Technical Information

1
THE STORY BEHIND THE RR340 MOUNTAIN BIKE
This mountain bike was fully designed and developed at the B'Twin Village (Lille, France) and is the brainchild of an expert team of mountain bike enthusiasts. To give beginner mountain bikers the lightness and ease of use they need, the team got beginners involved at every stage of design, construction and testing for the RR340. Whether it's for riding alone, with friends or as a family, users have approved the RR340 as being really fun to ride!
2
A UNISEX MTB
The RR340 mountain bike is designed for men and women alike. The RR340's frame has been carefully designed right down to the smallest detail, from the top tube's relatively pronounced slope, to the broad range of sizes (XS: 1.45m to XL: 1.95m) and the low weight to suit both men and women. For even more comfort, the ROCKRIDER team's female members recommend using women's SPORT 500 saddle which is specifically designed for women.
3
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE RR340
Several sizes available: XS: between 1.45 m and 1.50 m S: between 1.51 m and 1.65 m M: between 1.66 m and 1.75 m L: between 1.76 m and 1.80 m XL: between 1.81 m and 1.95 m Do you weigh more than 90 kg? For your comfort and safety, "double-walled" rims (more durable) are a good idea. The Rockrider ST100 mountain bike will be even better for you.
4
A LIGHT, EFFECTIVE FRAME
To get the most out of your pedalling, the ROCKRIDER 340's frame is made from 100% aluminium. Aluminium combines durability and a low weight. Its sloping geometry makes it easier for both women and men to mount.
5
FRONT SUSPENSION FOR CUSHIONING LUMPS AND BUMPS
The SUNTOUR XCT 80 mm front suspension is designed for slightly uneven trails and helps you overcome your first obstacles with no worries. Its design, based on a mechanical spring, is reliable and easy to maintain. You can also easily adjust the stiffness using a dial.
6
REAR SUSPENSION: NONE
This mountain bike has no rear suspension. It is a "semi-stiff" mountain bike: ideal for beginners. Compared with a full suspension bike (with rear suspension) the benefit is clear: it weighs much less so you waste less energy on flat terrain. A "semi-stiff" bike such as the RR340 is therefore a good choice for your first rides!
7
DERAILLEUR & DRIVE TRAIN: CHANGE CHAINRING AND COG
3 chainrings with 7 cogs, so 21 speeds! 2 simple grip shifters on the handlebar. Left (chainrings): manage your climb/descent. Right (cogs): adapt your effort more precisely. In detail: -Triple 22-, 32- and 42-tooth chainring + protection / grease -SHIMANO TZ30 or MICROSHIFT MS22 front derailleur -SHIMANO TY500 rear derailleur -SRAM MRX21 grip shifters with speed indicator -SHIMANO TZ21 7-cog, 14- to 28-tooth cassette -Wide, sturdy KMC Z51 chain
8
STEM, HANDLEBAR, GRIPS: FOR GOOD HAND POSITIONING
With a stem that tilts 10° upwards, the RR340 gives you a raised, accessible, comfortable riding position. In detail: -90 mm (in sizes XS and S) or 110 mm (in sizes M, L and XL) aluminium stem with an angle of 10° for maximum comfort -600 mm-wide steel handlebar, for stability and control -"Soft touch" grips for a firm yet soft and pleasant grasp
9
SADDLE: SIT COMFORTABLY!
Your comfort is our top priority, which is why we offer the exclusive, wider ERGOFIT saddle, with a special "hammock" shape. Easily adjust the height of your saddle with the 350 mm-long, 29.8 mm-diameter seat post.
10
V-BRAKES: CONTROL YOUR BRAKING
Two V-Brake pads for effective braking. These brakes are composed of two calipers that can exert varying degrees of pressure on the rim to slow the bike or stop the wheels from spinning. Thanks to the special design of the RR340's aluminium brake levers, you only need two fingers to brake.
11
26" WHEELS & TYRES FOR DRY GROUND: READY TO ROLL?
Push off easily on trails with your RR340 mountain bike and its light 26-inch single-walled wheels. To keep these wheels sturdy, our engineers have given them 36 spokes! Because your first rides will be on dry terrain, the DRY 26 x 2.0 tyres are the most suitable. Their performance has been optimised thanks to a faster central section, while their side lugs offer excellent traction in turns.
12
FLAT PEDALS
The Rockrider 340 MTB comes with flat mountain bike pedals made from hard resin for a lighter weight and greater safety. If your foot slips off the pedal, you're less likely to injure yourself.
13
EASILY TRANSPORT AND STORE YOUR BIKE
At ROCKRIDER, we know that not all rides start on your doorstep or at the front of the store. You might need to transport or store your bike in a confined space (car boot, porch, etc.). To make it easier to mount / remove your front wheel, we've fitted it with a quick release system. There is a nut at the back to secure the bike and limit the risk of theft. You will need a spanner to remove the back wheel.

16
COMFORT & SAFETY
We recommend that beginners wear cycling shorts with a pad (foam in the shape of a saddle) or a gel saddle cover to reduce soreness. For longer rides, remember to take something to drink (e.g. a water bladder or bottle). In all circumstances, even for a short ride, wearing a helmet is essential!

Stockage tips
After washing, rub with a dry cloth to remove all traces of moisture. Store your mountain bike in a cool, dry place, away from corrosive products and salty air.

Maintenance tips
Regularly maintain your fork (clean and grease dampers), especially in winter. Take your bike to your Decathlon store's customer service workshop, which offers a free safety inspection on all new bikes purchased.

Great buy
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought this for my 14 year old grandson to replace one he has outgrown. It was easy to put together - just the pedals to fit and handlebars to straighten. My grandson loves it! The gears are easy to use and the saddle height easy to adjust.
The only slight problem is that the screw to adjust the forward/backward position of the saddle won't unlock - hence 4 stars instead of 5. Fortunately the position is ok for my grandson, though it would have been perfect slightly further forward.

Great bike and good value for money just need a more comfortable seat but I think that’s a lot off bikes now days
Chain jumps
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Dosent matter if my gears are working all good my chain keeps jumping and the chain derails
I would avoid this bike.
Used for More than 1 year
When i first got this bike i was amazed at the cheap price despite all the things you get. After a couple of months however the brakes started to squeal awfully apparently because of the painted rims. To make things worse the derailleur is bolted to the frame and not to a piece of metal like all other bikes. This wouldnt be a problem but my frame has cracked for some weird reason and has caused it to bend making the bike practically impossible to ride! Hopefully someone from Decathlon will see this review and would be able to help me as I am aware the frame is under warranty as my bike is only a year old.
Not a good purchase
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Gears slip & crunch. When riding bike is very unsteady & feels like wheels & frame will snap.
Good spec bike for a good price
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Looked at Halfords Apollo and Carrera range and decided to get this bike instead. You get a better spec for a better price. Great bike can’t fault it so far.

A very good bike for going off-road and on road. Replacement parts are reasonably cheap. Very happy with the bike.
A good starter bike.
Used for More than 1 year
I bought this more than a year ago and I used it every single day for at least 2 hours, so I think I have enough experience with it. I just started replacing some components, which goes to show how good the build quality and the components are. I wouldn't ride this at Whistler Bike Park or down Mount Everest, but if you're looking for a commuter bike that looks menacing and cool, this is it. The suspension is actually not that bad and I've never bottomed it out, it's surprisingly stable on cobbled, bumpy roads even at high speed, my gearing got a little messed up after a couple of crashes but I can't say it was the bike's fault. Even after being hit by a car lightly, a year of usage, slipping on rainy roads, crashing, dropping the bike, it still runs like hell and it's super fun to ride. I'll probably be looking for another bike to visit parks with a better suspension and a more aggressive geometry, but I will never forget this one.

Awesome bike
Used for 1 week or less
Bought this for my 11 year old son. He’s over the moon with it. I got it with the small size frame, fits him perfect. A great looking bike. Love the Matt colouring. Looks like an expensive bike. Great for the price.
