Had my first crash, helmet protected my head as it smashed into the concrete, walked away with broken hand, broken rib, bit of bruising to my face but no damaged to my head thanks to this product. Be safe not sorry. Only negative, would have liked some sort of deduction on price when you replace with another Decathlon helmet after a crash, I know some other large manufacturers have this policy.
I cannot recommend this helmet highly enough, after getting knocked off my bike last week by an opening car door I hit the tarmac head first, the helmet took the full brunt of the collision and saved my life. The helmet is intact and did its job but due to the impact it is now being converted to a talking point in my garden and being used as a flower hanging basket. After getting over the bruising and aches and pains I am off to my local store to buy a replacement tonight.
After coming off my bike yesterday at a fair speed after hitting loose gravel on the road ... I can not recommend this helmet highly enough ... I have bruising on my head ... however this helmet stayed totally intact and hardly has a scratch on it ... I will certainly be buying a new one to replace my old one ..#savedmylife
Great value. Fit feels nice and adjustable wheel makes a nice extra.
I have had the Black version of this Helmet for 3 years and worn it 5 day's a week in Summer and Winter.
It has always served me well.
The Black Helmet is still going strong but i wanted the Blue one also as it matches my decathlon bike jacket.
I bought this to replace my previous helmet that I cracked falling backwards onto a rock whilst riding.
This is an excellent helmet. The adjustment mechanism is very good, it's light, available in hi viz yellow (as well as other colours) and it meets the EN 1078 standard for cycle helmets.
I found the sizes come up rather large so I ended up with a medium which is the smallest size available and I have a reasonably large head. If you have a small head you might want to look at the child's helmet as it's essential it fits properly - strap it on and if it rocks from side to side or you can fit your finger under the edge then it's too big.
The only other slight issue is if you want to mount lights to it there aren't many flat surfaces. This is easily remedied with some inner tube or pipe lagging, and you'd be wise to make sure your light bracket can snap away under impact (i.e. don't use cable ties).
It is also a very good price, I can't really see why the road version costs twice as much?
I can't comment on it's impact resistance as I haven't crashed in it yet!
great value, fits well and looks good!
Helmets are primarily about how they fit and this one fits me perfectly. Comfortable and snug it stays in place without being tight at all. After fit and comfort, protection can only be as good as any helmet given that any crash is a lottery. I use mine on-road for commuting and leisure rides.
Cycling home from work, my crank snapped in 2 and I came off the bike and landed on the back of my head. I was doing around 20mph and I'm here to tell the tale. Great cerebella protection. Helmet inner slightly broke. Just about to buy a new one.
Bought this helmet to replace a cheap ALDI one that has done me proud for a couple of years and many thousands of miles. Picked the luminous green one as it matches my bike.
The fittings on the helmet are easy to adjust, a little dial on the back tightens or slackens a band and the band can move up or down the back of the head. However, despite the fact that it is snug on my head, the outer shell of the helmet wobbles around from side to side and simply does not feel safe. My feeling is that if I were to need to use the helmet in anger, the shell could easily move around up the side of the head leaving it exposed.
Obviously the helmet design will have gone through testing but I feel that its design is not safe.
One other niggle is the band at the back of the helmet often gets stuck on the nobbly bit of the back of my head when taking the helmet off.
I would return this to the store for refund or exchange for a different model but as there was a big notice stating that helmets could not be returned then I'm unsure whether I can.
If you are not satisfied with your helmet, please return it to your local Decathlon store. You may be able to exchange it for another model.
