Sole grip
The design of the sole is the product of extensive research at our laboratories, combined with a special rubber formula to optimise grip and traction. As needs are not the same, we systematically seek the best trade-off for progressing in both loose terrain and dry terrain.
Waterproofing test
Having been both lab and field tested, the footwear fitted with the NOVADRY® technology guarantees optimum waterproofing and breathability. To start, they are immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the boot. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, it is therefore advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will prevent not only water from getting inside through the top, but also pebbles, sand, etc. It is advisable to use a waterproof spray several times a year. This restores the original water-repellent properties and prevents staining.
Buying Tips
Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to allow then to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
Which size should I select?
For hiking, do not hesitate to buy one size larger than the usual size to guarantee excellent comfort on the descent and to avoid toes rubbing at the tip of the shoe. Tip: keep your nails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding towards the front of the boot.
Lab tests
Further laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, accelerated ageing.
