    Our cast iron plates are made from at least 80% recycled cast iron

    Since 2018, our teams have been gradually integrating recycled materials until we reached the perfect balance. Following several years of experiments, Decathlon is replacing its entire range of cast iron products with recycled cast iron made from at least 80% scrap metal and steel waste – a real feat for the world of metal! To ensure that the quality is the same as classic cast iron, tests are carried out in partner laboratories.

    Why choose cast iron rather than plastic or vinyl weights?

    There are many advantages to cast iron:
    - density: compact so you can increase the number of discs on the bar. This makes it easy to load your bar for a variety of exercises.
    - life span: unlike vinyl and plastic which can wear out quickly, cast iron lasts a lifetime!

    What are the benefits of cast iron?

    - durability: it withstands crushing 5 times better than vinyl.
    - texture: its textured surface provides an excellent grip even when your hands are damp. In cases where plastic or vinyl would be slippery.

    Choosing cast iron weights means you can work out confidently and efficiently.

    Use your 10 kg barbell kit safely

    The disc collars should always be placed on the barbell after loading with weights.
    Note that they do not support more than 15 kg in a hammer grip (vertical position).

    What weight training accessories help to vary your exercises with this kit?

    Our coach suggests a toning workout with this 10 kg kit

    Upper body work:
    - Seated shoulder press with bar, 3-4 sets of 12-15 reps
    - Barbell rows, 3-4 sets of 12-15 reps

    Lower body work:
    - Lunges with bar, 3x12 for each leg

    Always keep a 2-rep margin and recover for 1 minute between sets.
    You can increase the load or the number of reps between workouts.

    Caring for your cast iron plates

    Moisture is cast iron's greatest enemy, so always store your weights and bar in a dry place.
    Clean the bar and plates with a damp cloth after each workout.
    Then store all parts of your kit in a dry place!

    Never store your bar or weights outdoors or in a cellar.

    From extraction to production, metal has a significant environmental footprint. That’s why we use recycled metal in this product. Instead of extracting new resources, we recover and recycle metal waste. After sorting, cleaning, and crushing, the metal is remelted in electric furnaces — which use far less energy than traditional coal-fired blast furnaces. The result: fewer raw materials extracted, up to 40% less energy consumed, and at least 19% fewer CO2 emissions compared to virgin metal — with no compromise on performance.
